Interview!

So as most of you know I've been searching for part time jobs. I've applied everywhere that I could think of that allows me to fulfill my other obligation to building my business on the side.
Last week and the week before I sent out resumes through emails and in person. I waited a week and I started to worry whether my resume was good enough or my cover letter was good enough. I began to doubt the strength of my resume.

2 days ago, while driving back home to freshen up and recoup, I received a phone call from Becky, a bubbly individual with a very easy going personality. I had applied using craigslist to a "personnel department" that helps people find jobs without knowing. Becky laid out what was being offered: part time, 4 hours a day, 20-25 hours a week, tues-sat or sun-thurs, my asked pay ~$13+/hr, data entry work. By the end of the conversation, I had established that I liked Becky and I would have to travel to downtown for the interview. I hope they either start me early in the morning, or they start me late in the afternoon. I would hate to have to drive through rush hour. That's entirely too much stress or gas for my expectations.

Monday, February 1 2010 @ 9:30am is my interview. I hope to ace the interview and aim to acquire a second part time job. Hopefully more companies will be calling me back for interviews.

I'm aiming to ace this interview, so I can start working and at least help with some bill payments with my own cash. =) Much better than relying on others. *sigh* That's the trouble with starting your own business, going full time into a business requires time and money. Things most people don't start off in life with lots of.

Time to do two things at once, working for steady income and building a business on the side.
I've got to be great at many things. Long term goals! Pumped up, fired up, super excited!!!

Ottoman and Crock-pot!!!!!!

Hey all!
Sorry for lack of updates! Just been busy with resume applications and the like. I'm happy to say, that I've applied to the following places.
Walmart
Bestbuy
Michaels
Home Outfitters
Ikea
Blockbuster
Shoppers Drug Mart
Planet Organic market
and 6 other online applications for receptionist jobs. Some are dental and others are warehouse data entry clerk positions.

I really hope I get one, two or more jobs so I don't have to cut out some of the simple joys in life. Mmmm oreos!! lol!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get a storage piece that I've been pining after from XS Cargo. It's this gorgeous Ottoman Large Storage Piece.
http://www.shopxscargo.com/product_catalogue/cat_product_details.asp?category_id=9&product_code=25846&sub_category_1_id=27&category=Accent%20Furniture

I've uploaded some photos from my phone, sadly I didn't have my camera to take these pictures. My sister and my dad went to a wedding in Vancouver and took my camera to take videos and pictures. =) Thus, me being stuck with my phone camera.

I've definitely been in love with this piece of furniture for a long time, mostly due to it's diversity. I'm a big fan of sitting on a block of furniture that has no backing. It's fun and I think it's due to nostalgic childhood memories of grandma's leather cube foot rest.

This it what my grandma's old foot rest looked like just in black faux leather but it wasn't exactly a cube lol! I'm pretty sure it was more a rectangular prism that wanted to be a cube.

This is one awesome storage unit, Joel likes to tease me and say "NOW I CAN PUT MY TOYS IN IT!" That kid! Grrrr! LOL! I want to use it only for throws that can be used to keep us warm when playing games or watching movies. If necessary, I'll put winter things there so it's easy to grab when leaving the door. But there tends to be a lot of
trial and error when new things are added in your home. "Where to properly put it for optimum use." "What to use it for, put things in etc." No doubt those questions that won't be answered in a single day.

As of now it looks like this is a good place to put it. I'll just move it around when I work out in the living room. Which btw, I need to get on that! Working out that is...*sad sigh* I've been a slacker and I highly doubt my team-leader T-kins will be too happy about my lack of progress! lol!

In any case I've been looking at getting a slow cooker, mainly because I don't want to keep wasting my energy on using stoves to cook things...and bake things. It uses way too much energy and Joel and I are putting lots of effort into saving money. This is the best way when it comes to our day to day use of energy, cooking eats it up hands down.

So looking at a slow cooker, I've checked out Walmart and WOOHOO there was one for $13, 2 heat settings and it's 1.5 qts (?). Super teeny tiny lol! Too cute and perfect for 2 person meal. We definitely don't need super huge 6qt sizes ... or do we!? =)

Looking at the 6qt Crock Pot I do like the feature the 6qt has that automatically shifts to "warm" when it's finished the cooking cycle. Which is great! Especially if I'll be working my part time job and coming home late. But yeah, it'll cost more than $13...I believe it's approx $40? Which isn't all bad. Especially if I'll save money on the energy bill AND time. I'll decide after I talk to Joel.

ALRIGHT! Now to work out! *fist pump*
Like Di advised, 1 hr cardio each day! Today's the (re)start of a CONTINUOUS work out schedule! GO SELF-MOTIVATION!

The weekend...

Have to say I had a great time this weekend. Drove into Edmonton around 8pm after stopping at Gasoline Alley to munch on a McD's Filet O' Fish meal...mmmm so delish! Chilled with my family, spent some good times just catching up and playing with my dogs Tomo & Kiba. Woke up for an appointment at 9am, worked from 12pm - 5pm, drove sis and dad to airport at 7pm and met Minhuh, Jose and Johnny for food at Original Joe's. We carpooled from my house to City Centre, Jose and Sean froze MVC2. Bought senior tickets ($7.50) and got teased by "ticket ripper boy" about "cheating" but apparently he does it all the time lawl. Yay for saving money on movie tickets! Original was $11.50! So expensive! That's the price of a meal or two! Watched the movie Book of "Elly" (haha Joel made fun of me because I didn't know how to say Eli, ee-lie...I called it Elly, eh-lee) *sad face* After the movie we made our way to Suede Lounge where the bouncer was super awesomeness! <3 Stayed there from 12am til about 1:30am then we had the munches for McD's. mmmmm fries and apple pie! <3 Nom nom nom! Then we all chitchatted about all the fun things we could do in the future....liiiiiiiiiiiiike IRON CHEF!!! Hahahaha I got excited at the prospect of cooking with all my friends and doing all sorts of fun chillaxing things with them. <3

That's when you know you have a good night. =) You remember step by step all the things that happened that night. I miss you guys. I'm real glad I got a chance to just chill normally with all of you. I'm sad DPac, Peh-ter, T-kins, Loan and Jade couldn't make it out. But there will always be next time. <3

Meatloaf!

Noms of the day: Tetley Tea + Meatloaf Instant Noodles

Mmmmmmmm lunch lunch! <3 It's tasty! Joel made meatloaf last night and it was delish! I added some leftovers into instant noodles and it tastes like meaty heaven nom nom nom...something about noodles is so comforting! <3 Yummy!

Today's a tad cold, I refuse to turn up the heat to save money. I'm sitting in my sweats, with arm warmers, socks and fleecy slippers. Oh so comfortable! hehehe <3

I hope your lunch today is just as wonderful! <3

Applying for Jobs...

Noms of the day: Homemade Stirfry + Oranges

Stirfry + Oranges + Tetley Tea

Yesterday I made chicken thighs, Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, green onions, ginger, rice noodles and soya sauce stir fry. Nom nom noms! <3 So today's lunch is delish yay! I peeled the oranges while waiting for the noodles to warm mmm yums! Healthy meal for the win. =)

Today's another day of passing out resumes. Yesterday I went to Safeway, Costco and Superstore. =) After filling out Safeway's application Joel drove me to Costco and they tell me that they're not hiring til March! WHOA! Talk about surprise! No biggie, I'm just gonna email my resume to Costco anyways. So after Costco we made our way to Superstore since I had 1 more resume to hand out. After dropping off resumes, Joel and I went to Chinook to check out some bags I found online. I had printed off the page of the bag's sale so they wouldn't argue with me about pricing. http://www.myspringshoes.com/ca-eng/handbags/shoulder-bags-totes/product/74422847-futifati/72. When I walked up to the counter to ask her to look for me, she asked "Is that a resume?" LOL! Talk about coincidences haha so after not finding the bag I was looking for we went to Aldo to look for this bag, http://www.aldoshoes.com/ca-eng/handbags/shoulder-bags-totes/product/76482077-gaiter/12. This one's the one I originally wanted and ended up ordering it in. Woots! =) I'm excited to get the bag in the mail. Yay yay!

Today's gonna be a wonderful day!

Noms of the day: Tetley Tea + Sugar

So yesterday I was out for an appointment at Joel's Auntie Remy and Uncle Kenneth's farm.
I met up with my sister and dad (from Edmonton) to go in 1 car to the farm. Auntie Remy's cooking's superb! Nom nom noms!

This was the driving schedule:
3pm - 4pm : Drove from Calgary to Innisfail parked my car.
4pm - 5pm : Drove with sister and dad to the farm.
5pm - 10pm : Appointment.
10pm - 11pm : Drove back to Innisfail with sister and dad to pick up my car.
11pm - 12am : Drove back to Calgary from Innisfail.

Wow driving takes a toll! I missed my alarm again =( I was supposed to wake up at 8am, but ended up waking up at 10:30.

Their dog Lady had puppies recently. Video below and a picture of Lady and the pups feeding.

Aunty Remy's cute newborn puppies. Spotty and Snowball...or Jeff and Marvin lmao!

They're still drinking milk from their mommy, Lady.
Lady's adorable, so sweet. Growls and barks when we first arrive, when we're in the house she's all sweet kissing and cuddling. Too cute!

Text message exchange between Joel and Me about puppies.
T: *sent picture message of above photo to Joel* Lady Spotty and Snowball lol So cute they're noisy with tiny whines lol adorable!
J: Omg. Can I have one?
T: They keep offering for us to take one lol! Uncle Kenneth named them Jeff and Marvin or something.
J: Omg. Bring me the cute one!
T: Which one's the cute one? LOL They're both cute!
J: I dunno. =) Anyone is fine.
T: Terrible, we don't have money!
J: It'll eat what we eat! =)
T: lol! NO! LOL!

Yes, we plan to get a puppy. We would just prefer to get a dog once we have a bigger place etc.

Welcome new blogger! http://m1nhuh.blogspot.com/ Glad to be an inspiration for a new blogger!

Here's a video of my puppies, Kiba (white) and Tomo (black). If you're wondering what they're eating .... it's raw chicken feet. BWAHAHAHAH Enjoy!

Cover letter...what?! =O

Noms of the day: Chewy Sugar Cookies

"Is yours better than mine?"
SOCIALIZING
How often do you meet a fellow financial advisor at a bar?  It was awesome seeing Shila sing on stage again.  It's also amazing how complete strangers like to boast about their professions without being overly blunt about it.  No doubt you do need to read between the lines but you don't need a magnifying glass to read it.  The wording in sentences can be arranged to imply "theirs is better than yours".  Sadly I've run into too many people who like to toot their horn loudly and often.  Arguably it can be a preferential concept to be humble or to be boastful.  But a person's character is obvious when with respect, smiling brightly, they sidestep the confrontational question of "mine's better than yours, right?" (Clearly not worded so bluntly when first introduced.) I think I tend to meet overly competitive people wherever I go. LOL! Not to say anything's wrong with being competitive! It's just disheartening to see that some people have trouble speaking with passion minus aggression.

"What do you do?"
UNEMPLOYMENT
Yay for application processes!  I'm writing up my resume and cover letter as I write this.  Since I haven't been writing proper English for a while, this process has motivated me to write my blog without too much internet slang.  Cover letters were never supposed to be this difficult, or am I fooling myself?  I have checked about.com for examples on cover letters and lo and behold there are a ton of variations on cover letters.  Depending on the reason for your job application and to what type you would need to use a different style of cover letter.  I swear I was taught cover letters are easy to write up. Well, that's according to my 2003 high school diploma.  *sigh* Is it safe to say, "times have changed"?  Depending on the job you're applying for you may need to change up your resume.  I'm thinking of doing just that for my application to Costco and Safeway.  Wish me luck!

"Would you like some tea with that?"
BAKING
Now for the FUN stuff!  I ended up forgetting to take pictures of the process of my baking, but I do have pictures of the end result for you! Nom nom nom...

Chewy Sugar Cookies!!!!!!!

Can you see the sugar?! <3

I gave some to my neighbors because I like to share!  Granted it's not super delicious, but it's a nice fatty snack. Great to munch on while watching movies and the like.  I was debating about browning them a little bit but I didn't want them to become hard cookies.  Remember how I was complaining about how my mixer was busted?  Well when I made the sugar cookies I just used a fork.  Guessing it's the old-school method.  Turned out to be MORE FUN, yes more physically challenging, but I feel more satisfied when mixing with a fork.  *fist pump* Next on my list to bake is Shortbread cookies, credit for the idea goes to Sue seeing as she loves them.

Looking forward to making bread as well, I'm aiming to make Ensaimada once more adding more sugar, letting rise longer and less punching.  Now that I have a blog it requires more thought to preparing the camera to document my escapades! <3

Much love!!

Christmas: Time to spend with Family and Friends...and money. =Þ <3

Noms of the day: Oranges Peeled by Jojo!

"How was your holiday?"
FESTIVITIES
So this holiday was spectacularly eventful!  Friends, families and all sorts of fun filled chit chat chill sessions.  Jenn, Kevin, Ang, Rikkie, Kerol, Jess, Mom, Dad, Joel and I sat in my living room for New Years and played Super Mario Wii for 6 hrs.  Holy moly! It's somewhat a rerun of the past few New Years spent indoors with good company and entertainment, the only difference was my one and only Jenn was able to join this time! <3

"What did you buy?"
SHOPPING
I spent too much during boxing week on these two items that I LOVE! =3

Sweater: Artizia Wilfred Batwing Sweater ($70);
Boots: Sterling Roberto Vianni ($70)

Thanks to Jenn for encouraging me to purchase this Aritzia Wilfred Sweater. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  Most likely going to wear it more often than not. <3

The boots are dedicated to Di!  I have yet to find the thigh high ones *sad* but I'm happy to say the heel heights on these boots are more than satisfactory.  I was able to wear it for an entire day without killing my feet! <3

I'm supremely satisfied with the amount I spent this Christmas and New Years.  I propose the idea that we all do Secret Santa for the next Christmas'!  In addition to S.S. each person provides a list of wants to be distributed for S.S.!  Definitely more convenient and still holds same attention and care when presenting presents to the recipient! <3

"What are your hobbies?"
BAKING
So yesterday I tried to make Mango Coffee Cake.  Unfortunately my hand / stand mixer's motor blew right as I was at the tail end of mixing the batter.  So my plans for baking today's chewy sugar cookies will need more time in the preparation since I'll have to mix by hand / spatula.  Thankfully I don't mind physical labor so hopefully the cookies I'm about to make will turn out delish! Nom nom nom! Expect pictures of the process after I have thoroughly enjoyed baking and eating them! =P~

Food for thought: Yesterday's fiasco has taught this amateur baker a lesson, "Don't make a coffee cake that doesn't have coffee in it's ingredients."  That's right folks! I made a coffee cake with "cinnamon and all spice" as the ingredients for flavor.  In Joel's words, "It should be called cinnamon cake." If anyone has a recipe for a "light fluffy souffle-like coffee cake" then please! By all means, share with me!  I'm a stubborn baker/cook. Having failed once is enough incentive for me to try until I make it right.  Can you tell I dislike failing? XD

"What is one of your short term goals?"
CONTINUING EDUCATION
In any case, here's a fun link I've been using to expand my vocabulary a word per day.  As a part of my personal growth I want to continue to expand my vocabulary.

Enjoy! <3

An intro of a sort....

Noms of the day: Red Rose Tea + Sugar

"What's the best thing that happens in your day?"

I believe when you realize and accept that you have flaws and strive to become a better person, that this is the best thing that happens to a person in a day.

This year is going to be filled with small but significant changes in my life. I aim to document them here to hold myself accountable for my personal goals. However as serious as the intro was I don't intend to bore you with personal accounts without some personal splashes of wit, silliness and humor. In advance, thanks to all who read and reply with their own stories and forgive my poorly written out blogs.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to this years adventures!
